Community Projects

At JJ Prior we are committed to minimising the impact of our operations on the environment. We have won seven gold awards from Essex County Council under their Minerals and Waste Planning Environmental Award Scheme.

We have also won the QPA Environmental Award twice receiving the maximum 4 stars. The scheme covered all aspects of our operations including visual appearance, air noise and vibration, water and fuel management, community relations, restoration and ecology.

We are particularly proud of our work with the CoastNet agency on a project called ‘Access Fingringhoe’ which led to the provision of an Outdoor Classroom for local children.

Caring for the environment

At JJ Prior we go to great lengths to protect and look after the local environment. When extracting sand and gravel we take great care in recording and preserving the archaeological heritage and minimising our impact on the local environment.

100% of the sand and gravel produced in our quarry is transported by river taking thousands of lorries off London’s congested roads.
