Caring for the environment

At JJ Prior we are committed to minimising the impact of our operations on the environment. We have won seven gold awards from Essex County Council under their Minerals and Waste Planning Environmental Award Scheme.

To minimise the environmental impact water used in processing is surface water, not drawn from bore holes or the rivers.

When the work is over we take great care in restoring the land, ensuring that habitats for the wildlife are retained or even extended.

We work to high standards of stewardship of the exhausted land and try to keep the local community as informed as we can regarding the stages of reinstatement.

We have returned around 50% of the original land holdings to agricultural and other uses including some conservation projects run by the Essex Wildlife Trust.
